Graphic and sound designer, Magnus Birgersson, delivers a complete masterpiece
in 14 movements, where trance flirts with industrial, and trip-hop with
noise. It is not so much the richness of the sounds that strikes the ear,
rather, the talent with which it is all orchestrated. This fine alchemy
distills dense ambient music with a constant, ever-changing structure,
at times cold and mechanic, and at others warm and soothing. The further
one gets into this musical maze, the more one feels magnetised by its
frequencies as they answer one another, reflect onto each other, heading
for bewitchment.
After
an intensive collaboration over the net from two different locations in
the making (Jupiter Studio, Sweden- Ultimae Studio, France) this is the
fascinating first full-length offering from a promising collaboration
between two renowned producers, Vincent Villuis (Aes Dana) and Magnus
Birgersson (Solar Fields). Indeed, Huva Network s debut emerges as something
more than a mere collection of ambient tunes: with Distances they have
succeed in creating an ambient downtempo album with some progressive morning
trance and industrial drones, a masterpiece of uncanny emotional resonance
and lyrical grace. With its pulsing bass patterns, whispering feedbacks
and refined depths in the more atmospheric moments, it stands a statement
to the duo s singular gift for aural imagery, well chosen sonic details,
thematic richness and a cinematic coherence, all fused in one record to
create a panoramic rendez-vous between their ambient worlds.

Deeply spaced out through to
tribal stomping tempo's, 'Distances' is an incredible journey through
deeply tranced-out ambient electronica. Breathtaking aral landscapes and
hypnotic grooves make this the perfect smoking companion.

Carbon Based Lifeforms
are Johannes Hedberg & Daniel Ringström, both born in -76 and
lives in Gothenburg Sweden.
They met in 91 and started playing around with Trackers on the Amiga in
-92. In 94 they switched to PC's and teamed up with Mikael Lindquist and
formed a tracker group called Bassment Studios.
They released their tracks
through various BBS's, the bbs Musical Storehouse being their WHQ (world
head quarter)
In 95, following Mikaels lead,
they left the tracking scene and switched to midi. This led to the forming
of Notch, mainly focusing on acid, techno and house music. CBL was formed
in -96 as a side project to Notch. CBL later became the main focus of
Johannes and Daniel while Mikael left and did various solo acts.
CBL published their songs on
mp3.com in -98, and was featured on the promo cd "103 best songs
you never heard on mp3.com" wich led to some pretty nice downloads
and album sales :)
In -99 they teamed up with
Magnus Birgersson(Solar Fields) to write the music for the swedish dancer
Olof Persson's performance "Fusion"
AES DANA
Born from the
meeting of Vincent Villuis, former member of goa chill band Asura, and
Sunbeam (aka Mahiane) who spins english progressive vinyls, Aes Dana stands
as a coherent fusion of both styles. They bring out deep sounds rooted
in the psychedelic tradition, in a fluid down tempo morning trance. Both
musicans tend to create evocative sound textures, opening as a travelling
over their analogical dreams. Short tales made of samples and waves, energised
by tribal beats. Soundtrack for the early party letting time for the moon
and the tempo to set, or for afters to slow down the nocturnal excesses
and celebrate the return of the Sun. Aes dana's music is to be enjoyed
between the veils. MDKW
