Psyburbia has
released music through international labels including Matsuri and Nova
Tekk, as well as high profile local labels such as Creative Vibes, Black
Hole and ABC records. Psyburbia has received rotation on national broadcaster
JJJ, and has played most of the major festivals and dance events including
Offshore, Big Day Out and Earthcore.
Psyburbia has attracted critical
praise globally for achieving a unique synthesis of dub inspired psychadelic
grooves and almost anything else you could think of
..'space rock
for an electronic generation who like to dance' . Or chill.
In recent times he has collaborated with other artists including Scanner
and Rip Van Hippy.
His weirdest show may well have been on a farm, when cows took over the
dance area. Or in the middle of a busy road. Or any one of dozens of shows
in the Australian bush where he has had to compete with frost, fire, rain
and wildlife. He's played live and/or DJed most places.
If you were Psyburbia's friend you'd call him 'Baz' and he'd probably
explain to you that the name came about because he was obliged to live
in a particularly wretched suburb at one point, whilst trying to make
deeply 'psychadelic' music. Or that it is a comment on the psychotic nature
of mainstream life in Australia. The suburbs are more freaky than anything
- Tolkien sure thought so! He now lives on the edge of a big spooky forest,
regularly visited by aliens.
