fine representation of "isolationism" with a heart, "Ortlos" is like the
musical equivalent of an arctic thaw--shimmering and glistening with ambient
radiance." "The wispy layers of welcome@headtractive/title drift like living fog, sometimes slithering with more-electric entities; exotic e-percussion rises to the top in an organic-metallic hybrid. Like a peacefully expanding pondscape, solarjahr's fluid tones are soared over by light tonal flutters and plenty of chiming little activities which seep into the next ever-unfurling soundscene of substring (2:31). Its radiating synthcurrents are texturized by syncopated thumps and dustmote glints. Again one track segues into the next; the gloriously sky-coloring fibres of beach are just stunning as they undulate against slow tones and crystalline accents. Deeper washes of teasingly vague musicality waft through the resonant expanse of die überlebende theme, picking up a chittery rhythm as it flows. Free-flowing objekt classid's slurry stew emits mutedly glinting notes, its tunefulness sputtering with light IDM beatiness. Darker schatten experiences disquieting moods, by way of nonetheless compelling abstractions, followed by the drummier also-spooky morphosis of coords. Boiling like some microbeswamp, bristling fluids gurgle from return-x; lazily buzzing liquids are occasionally stirred by the radiant ping of gigantic droplets... slightly more nervous and grey, though intriguingly so. Würden knows what ambient music is all about, and demonstrates his knowledge skillfully. The quietly magical soundscenes of ORTLOS are undeniable, yet mirage-like, encompassing your listening space with dreamy synth/texture immersions, and spare use of percussion and samples. Great! A- " Above Review on Ambientrance Feb 2003 We are very proud to present this album. It is the first release from Max Wuerden, a German movie soundtrack composer. Each track blends into the next for a fascinating 70 minute soundscape journey! Ambient textures, voices, subtle beats and strings blend effortlessly, ambient with a cutting edge.....A truly great debut. "The CD is very cool, and hard to describe. It starts off sounding rather thematic and cinematic with several short themes packed into 1 song, then it moves into some familiar sounding IDM territory, a little Boards of Canada at times, at little Bola at times maybe, a little Biosphere at times as well without sounding like carbon copies of any of them. (Look for tracks "Objekt Classid" and "Lauf Der Sonne"). Also some nice stark chill tracks thrown in as well. Overall a very good collection. " Review by Stephen Philips,
